How will I be able to see everything? 
The flight line will be open to the public and you will have an opportunity to view all of the static displays as well as "Heritage Hanger". 

How will I know where to park? 
Due to security restrictions only specific traffic lanes will be open to guide you to the parking areas.  

Can I tour other areas of the base? 
Unfortunately, due to heightened security, only the flight line area will be accessible to the general public.

Can I volunteer to help?

What does it cost to attend the air show?
Air show admission and parking is free.  Food, beverages and souvenirs will be available for purchase. Coolers are not allowed in the flight line area.

Can anyone attend?
Yes, the event is open to the public..

When should I arrive?
To minimize impact on off-base traffic flow, guests are encouraged not to show up at the gate before 9 a.m. when the gates are scheduled to open.  Aerial demonstrations are normally scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.

How do I get to Mountain Home Air Force Base?
No matter which direction you come from, once in Idaho take Interstate 84. Mountain Home is about 100 miles west of Twin Falls and 40 miles east of Boise. There are three exits that go into Mountain Home, and all allow easy access to the base with signs posted to help you find your way.  The base is 10 miles west of the town on Airbase Road, State Highway 67.  Carpooling is encouraged.  Click here for a map with directions.

Are there overnight accommodations on base?
There are no overnight accommodations on base for the general public. Lodging may be available in Mountain Home, Boise or Twin Falls, Idaho. All guests must leave the installation at the conclusion of aerial demonstrations.

Are there any restrictions on what we can bring on base?
Cars and other vehicles that enter the base are subject to search. Do not enter the base with weapons or illegal items. Once on base and parked, people will proceed to the flight line area adjacent to the runway where visitors may view the show and other exhibits.  The following items should NOT be brought onto the base:

People will be turned away at the security checkpoint at the air show flight line entrance if they have any of the following items:

Will there be security checks?
Yes, any vehicle that enters the base is subject to search, and all hand-carried items will be searched. Guests may carry in lawn chairs, purses, diaper bags, strollers, umbrellas, cameras and camera cases, but these items will be searched and may increase the processing time onto the flight line. 

Can I photograph and film during the air show?
Yes, still and video cameras are allowed.  However, because cameras may be searched, photographers should not load film into their cameras until after they pass flight line security checkpoints.

Are strollers, wheelchairs and lawn chairs permitted?
Yes, guests may carry in lawn chairs, purses, diaper bags, strollers, umbrellas, cameras and camera cases, but these items will be searched and may increase the processing time onto the flight line. Wheelchairs are permitted, but bicycles, skates - including inline skates, scooters and skateboards are NOT allowed.

Will there be a handicap parking area?
Yes, security forces will direct these guests to the appropriate parking once inside the gates. All individuals will still go through security screening.

Are there any concerns with children attending?
Guests should be aware of the fact that the noise of some aerial demonstrations may startle young children.

When will the Thunderbirds fly?
The Thunderbirds are scheduled to fly Sept 18th.

Can I schedule a base tour or see the other areas of the base during the air show?
Areas outside the parking and show area are off-limits to visitors for security reasons. Guests are asked to remain within designated areas while on base. 

How can I volunteer for the air show and what positions are available?

I’m a civilian pilot.  Can I fly in to the show?
Plans are in the works to allow civilian pilots to fly in for Saturday’s show. Details are not yet available. However, you may e-mail your information to the 366th Fighter Wing Public Affairs office, and we’ll be back in touch with you.

How do I get information on booths or commercial opportunities during the air show?
For information on air show commercial opportunities, contact Silver Wings of Idaho through the city of Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce office at (208) 587-4334. Silver Wings of Idaho is a nonfederal, nonprofit organization formed to promote open houses at Mountain Home AFB and provide support to the base during open houses.

What events are scheduled for Sept. 17?
On Sept. 17th, there is a full day of events to include many world class civilian performers along with a number of military air craft demonstrations.
