Non-profit Agri-Business established for education and awareness for the public.

Elmore County’s rich agricultural heritage goes back more than a century. It began with horse, cattle and sheep ranching in the late 1800’s. More than 100,000 head of cattle reside in Elmore County, making cattle ranching one of the largest segments of agriculture within our county.

When the Mountain Home Irrigation District was formed, farming became a vital part of the area. Currently Elmore County has more than 100,000 acres of irrigated cropland and is an excellent location to raise high quality alfalfa hay, potatoes, sugar beets, wheat, dry beans, mint, corn, and alfalfa seed. The agriculture industry in Elmore County contributes approximately $300 million to the local economy annually and encompasses more than 350,000 acres within the county.

Elmore County Agri-Business Coalition Inc., or E.C.A.C., is a volunteer non profit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting agriculture and agricultural rights in Elmore County in a proactive and positive manner.

Our goals are to educate the public about the importance of agriculture within the county and insure that agriculture is properly represented at the County Government level. Our members include Ag producers, cattlemen, dairymen and supporting businessmen who represent all segments of the Agri-business industry within the County.

Agriculture is the backbone of our great country. To protect our future, it is vital that we stand together on the issues that affect our industry and speak with a strong, unified voice. Agriculture’s story is one of dedicated people who create products and jobs that benefit people far beyond the borders of Elmore County. Too often we rely on others to tell Ag’s story and our message does not reach those who need to hear it most. Agriculture is an interrelated business and we must work together as a cohesive group on ag issues that affect each of us. It is our belief that as a group we can have tremendous influence.

Agriculture needs a strong, unified voice in today’s world of technology and commerce. Our industry faces a multitude of important issues as the urban population increases and continues to encroach on our way of life as well as our livelihoods. Help us continue our proud tradition of agriculture in Elmore County by supporting E.C.A.C.
