Marathon
Cheese Corporation, founded in 1952 by Ray and Marie Goldbach in
Marathon City
,
Wisconsin
opened its newest facility in Mountain Home in January 2007.
The plant is only slightly smaller than the company’s main
packaging plant in
Marathon City
,
Wisconsin
and joins packaging facilities in
Booneville
,
Mississippi
and
Medford
,
Wisconsin
.
The Mountain Home plant was designed to meet both current and future
needs of the company and its workers.
It was designed for future growth and can be expanded without
difficulty if it becomes necessary.
Current plans are to move West Coast business from
Wisconsin
to Mountain Home. This will
enable Marathon Cheese to transfer product lines currently in Marathon and
Medford
to give those plants the ability to improve efficiency and the space to
handle future growth as well. While
the building in Mountain Home will continue to be primarily a packaging
facility, it will also serve as shipping and receiving center and allow
Marathon to work more effectively with their suppliers in the western
region of the
U.S.
At the
core of the firm’s success is its high caliber work force.
The finest brick and mortar in the world will not generate success
without good quality people behind the scenes.
Marathon
Cheese has been in the cheese packaging business for over 54 years and has
become a leader in the industry and one of the largest independent cheese
packaging companies in the world.

also operates a retail cheese store in the facility.
Presently the store is open to the public on Monday’s,
Wednesday’s, and Friday’s from
